Sana Riyaz was born in New Delhi, India. She studied as a Master student in Biomedical research at Dr. B.R Ambedkar Centre for Biomedical Research, Delhi University. She worked as a Junior scientist in Sir Ganga Ram hospital, New Delhi for more than two years at the Department of Medical Genetics.

Her keen interest in Inflammation and research motivated her to join Helmholtz Zentrum Geesthacht in the year 2019. She is working currently in Kiel at the HZG MOIN CC outstation. Her main focus of the study is the investigation of the immune response of Magnesium and its alloys using multimodal imaging in vivo.
